When Julie left school she studied fine art and then moved into teaching, but still accepted commissions and illustration work from time to time. Although she has been painting all her life, since moving to Norfolk in 2003 she has had more opportunity to develop her commission based portrait work. She has also written and illustrated her own book recently published for the educational market.
She lives with her two black Labrador retrievers. Her children have both followed an artistic career and are married, living in Bedfordshire. Locally Julie is becoming well known for her truly lifelike portraits painted in watercolour, or pencil. In recent times she has focused on portraits of animals and special commissions.
Julie aims to capture the very essence of the character and beauty of the subjects from the expression in their eyes, to the detail of their features until a true likeness is achieved.
Over the years she has completed many portrait commissions. The testimonials contain a selection from the numerous satisfied customers she has received comments from.
